OUR MASSAGE OFFERINGS Relax • Refresh • Renew Swedish Massage refers to a variety of techniques designed to relax muscles by applying pressure against deeper muscles and bones, and by rubbing in the same direction as the flow of blood returning to the heart. Its goals are to increase circulation, stimulate lymphatic circulation, and speed up the elimination of wastes and toxins. Deep-Tissue Massage focuses on the deeper muscle layers. Slow strokes and direct finger pressure are applied to the contracted or tense areas, either following or going across the fibers of the muscles, tendons, and fascia. Deep-tissue massage releases chronic muscle tension, breaks up adhesions, releases toxins from muscles, and promotes proper circulation. Shiatsu Massage derives from two words: "Shi" meaning finger, and "atsu" meaning pressure. Based on Traditional Chinese Medicine, the massage therapist uses finger pressure on specific pressure points on the body. Shiatsu massage aims to increase the flow of energy throughout the body by releasing tension and rebalancing the body. Shiatsu also improves circulation and increases the range of motion in joints. Sports Massage—Pre-Event provides a warm-up massage consisting of controlled and focused rocking and shaking, compression, and stretching. Lasting 10 to 15 minutes, it is stimulating and fast-paced. Done one to two hours before a sporting event takes place, the therapy emphasizes the specific muscles that will be used. This massage helps to prepare the athlete for peak performance by increasing energy and blood circulation. Sports Massage—Post Event provides a warm down massage after athletic events, using a mixture of Shiatsu and Swedish techniques. Done 10 to 30 minutes after the event for 10 to 30 minutes, this therapy helps to reduce recuperation time, reduce heart rate and blood pressure, drain away fatigue, prevent injuries, and increase muscle tone. Energy Massage uses light finger pressure on key points on the surface of the skin. The goal is to balance energy throughout the body, release muscle tension, and improve circulation. Thai Massage is based on interactive manipulation of the body using passive stretching movements. It is similar to yoga movement without any effort. By applying gentle pressure with both hands and feet, the therapist aims to increase flexibility, relieve muscle and joint tension, balance the body's energy system, and increase range of motion.
