Liz Fong
Pilates Instructor

Liz’s movement experience began at age five in the ballet studio. She went on to train in various dance techniques, began teaching dance at age sixteen, and eventually embarked on a career as a professional modern dancer. It was during this time that she was introduced to Pilates. She was immediately drawn to it after experiencing the tangible effects her sessions produced on her body and in her dancing. After an injury to her back and hip ended her dance career, she found that as one door closed another opened. She found that it was possible to practice Pilates at every stage of her rehabilitation. Using Pilates as her new path, she was able to broaden her understanding of the body’s ability to move and to heal.

Liz was certified in 2000 through Body Arts and Science International. She spent her first several years teaching and learning under the tutelage of world-renowned Pilates expert and founder of Body Arts and Science International Rael Isacowitz and later in private Pilates studios and physical therapy clinics. Her ongoing curiosity and fascination with the human body keeps her studying and learning- and keeps her own practice of Pilates continually refreshed and new.

Liz believes Pilates can help us to achieve a healthy body – one that is strong and grounded, centered and supple. Most importantly Pilates can bring us into balance, in both body and mind. To be balanced and centered allows us the freedom to move out in any direction, in any aspect of our lives. Liz brings to each session a genuine love for teaching movement, a well-trained eye, and a sound understanding of body mechanics.
